About Star RV Australia
About Star RV Australia
Star RV is the premium motorhome brand within the THL/JUCY family. If you've been browsing JUCY and wondering what the next step up looks like — Star RV is the answer. Purpose-built motorhomes, genuinely self-contained, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter base for the larger models. This isn't a campervan with a toilet bolted on.
The fleet is small: three models, in 2, 4, and 6-berth configurations. All called Polaris. If you're used to the sprawling catalogues of Britz or Apollo with a dozen different options, this will feel narrow. That's intentional. Star RV doesn't try to cover the budget end or confuse you with too many variants. You know what you're getting.
The Fleet At A Glance
Three vehicles: the Polaris 2, the Polaris 4, and the Polaris 6. All fully self-contained — shower, toilet, kitchen, extendable awning, linen, towels, and kitchen kit included. Unlimited kilometres. 24/7 roadside assistance. These are turn-up-and-drive vehicles. Nothing extra to arrange.
The Polaris 6 is the headline act — three double beds, full bathroom, dual air conditioning across both the driver's cabin and main cabin, built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The Polaris 4 shares the same Sprinter base with a different layout. The Polaris 2 is built on a Fiat Ducato and is arguably the most impressive per square metre in the range: microwave, TV, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, double-glazed windows with blackout blinds, collision and lane departure warning, USB ports throughout. For a couple who wants to travel properly, it's a genuinely strong package.
One important asterisk on the Polaris 4: the rear-facing seats at the back cannot be used while driving, and there are no anchor points for forward-facing child seats. If a child seat is non-negotiable, either the Polaris 6 (which offers booster and baby seat extras) or a different company is the call. Star RV is transparent about this on their website.
Branch Network
Six locations, all airport-adjacent: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne (Airport), Perth (Airport), and Sydney.
One-way hire is available between all locations except Perth — worth confirming at booking as this can change seasonally. For end-to-end east coast trips you're well covered. Darwin is not a standalone Star RV depot; the Northern Territory is a gap in the network.
Who's Behind Star RV
Star RV is part of the THL Group — the same infrastructure that runs JUCY, Britz, Maui, Mighty, and Apollo across Australia. When you call roadside assist at 11pm somewhere between Coober Pedy and nowhere, you're calling into a network that handles this every day. That's worth something.
Velocity Frequent Flyer Points
Book direct through the Star RV website and you earn Velocity points — 3 points per dollar spent, plus a 10,000-point sign-up bonus (valid through September 2026 at time of writing). Not the reason to choose a motorhome, but free points on a spend you're making anyway.
Age Policy
Minimum driver age is 21. No exceptions. If you need under-21 hire, JUCY (18+) or Travellers Autobarn are the companies to look at instead.
How Star RV Compares
In the premium motorhome segment, Star RV slots above Apollo and Mighty in pricing and positioning, and below Maui at the very top. It's a sensible niche — and the spec sheet is competitive. The Polaris 2 is better-equipped than most 2-berth competitors at its price point. The Polaris 6 is a strong value proposition for groups who want genuine comfort without paying Maui rates.
Britz overlaps at the larger end. Maui has more models and a slightly more polished customer service experience. Star RV's edge is the equipment level and the fact it's a deliberately focused fleet — three well-specified models rather than a sprawling lineup of compromises.
Who Should Book Star RV
Book if: You're a couple wanting a premium self-contained 2-berth — the Polaris 2 is genuinely well-specified. You're a group of 4–6 who want to travel in comfort without campground-dependence. You're a Velocity member wanting to earn points on a big spend. You want a near-new premium vehicle in known good condition.
Don't book if: You need to start or finish in Darwin. You're travelling solo or on a tight budget. You need a 4WD or off-sealed-road capability — none of these vehicles are built for it. You need to drive under 21 (minimum age is 21).
Final Verdict
Star RV fills a clear gap: meaningfully better than mid-range, not at Maui's premium price. The small fleet size is an advantage for most hirers — three distinct models with clear differentiation, no decision fatigue.
The Polaris 2 is the standout vehicle in the range. Remarkably well-equipped for a 2-berth at the premium end — the kind of van that makes couples wonder why they ever considered staying in motels. The Polaris 6 is the right call for groups of four to six who've decided the motorhome life is for them and want to do it properly.
Worth checking JUCY's page too if you're comparison shopping — the two brands share infrastructure and booking systems, and the price difference between a top-tier JUCY and entry-level Star RV is smaller than you'd expect.

Vehicle Fleet
The Polaris 2 is Star RV's couples motorhome — a 2-berth built on a Fiat Ducato with an impressive specification for its class. Microwave, TV, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 90-litre fridge, water filter, swivel front seats, double-glazed windows with blackout blinds, collision and lane departure warning, USB charging throughout. Fully self-contained: shower, toilet, awning. Linen and kitchen kit included. Explicitly pet-friendly. The 3D virtual tour on the Star RV website is worth a look before you book. For couples wanting a premium motorhome experience rather than a basic campervan, the Polaris 2 is hard to beat at this price point.
The Polaris 4 is a 4-berth motorhome on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter base, designed for small families or groups of four wanting proper self-containment. Full bathroom (shower and toilet), 150-litre fridge, gas burner, extendable awning, GPS, 87-litre fresh and grey water tanks. Linen, towels, and kitchen kit included. Unlimited kilometres and roadside assistance as standard. Important caveat: the rear-facing seats at the back cannot be used while driving, and there are no anchor points for forward-facing child seats — if you need child restraints that require anchoring, the Polaris 6 with its booster/baby seat extras is the better choice. No baby or booster seats are available as extras for the Polaris 4.
The Polaris 6 is the flagship Star RV motorhome — a 6-berth built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with three double beds, a full bathroom (shower and toilet), 150-litre fridge, gas burner, extendable awning, and dual air conditioning across both the driver's cabin and the main living area. Designed for groups of four to six who want to travel without compromise. Baby seat, booster seat, and extra driver available as extras. Snow chains and a pet fee (dog) round out the options list. Linen, towels, kitchen kit, roadside assistance, and unlimited kilometres all included.
